WELCOME TO

LEARN TO LOVE YOUR KITCHEN

As a busy guy in my early twenties, I am always met with astonishment when I say I have spent the evening or weekend before making pasta or perfecting my jam recipes. This astonishment has inspired this blog, inspired me to teach you how to love your kitchen as I do mine, one simple, cost-effective recipe at a time. Whether you are a student with a tight budget or a busy mum with a larder to fill for winter, I hope my recipes and tips help you to love your kitchen.

What's better than chocolate? Double chocolate! Add it to peanut butter and we're in heaven! These brownies are my go-to when I get home from work after a horrible day and want to indulge! Ready within an hour (most of this is sitting waiting for them to come out of th...

I’ve definitely been feeling the winters bite this week, and without wanting to stereotype, the Irish in me instantly wants potato dishes of all kinds when it gets cold. There is something just so comforting about creamy mash, crusty roasts or this heavenly potato soup...

I always make sure I have some homemade vegetable stock in my freezer. Whether used in a soup, casserole, to add flavour to a silky risotto or to make a beautiful vegetarian gravy, this is my go-to! In my opinion, the flavours in this stock cannot be matched by even th...

I just love these simple custard cookies. This recipe came about when I needed to use up some custard powder as the tin wouldn’t fit in my newly re-organised cupboard, and boy, am I now happy it didn’t fit! Whether dipped in tea, topped with raspberry jam and drizzled...

As I mentioned in my last post, My Ultimate Lemon Curd, I have a bit of a thing for citrus. This lemon meringue pie is the perfect manifestation! I have made this recipe as adaptable to your cupboards ingredients and your skills as is possible. I’m going to keep it sho...

January 10, 2018

I am an absolute sucker for all things citrus. I don’t know which I love more, the bright, lively colours or the fact that the smell can instantly transport you to summer. I add lemons and limes to my drinking water, my cologne has an orange base, and all my favourite...

Homemade pasta is one of those things that can make a simple meal really special. I bet you don't know how easy it is to make though? After receiving the wonderful gift of a pasta-rolling machine from my aunt over the holidays, it prompted me to start making my own pas...

This Tomato and Paprika chutney is sheer brilliance. Since first making it back in November, I’ve used it in sandwiches (amazing recipe to come tomorrow!), put it on my cheese-boards, added it to salad dressings and even had it with my baked ham on Christmas Day! While...

January 5, 2018

I don’t know what it is, whether it’s a subconscious yearning to be back to the richness and extravagence of Christmas food, or a coping mechanism for the January blues, but all my recipe ideas this week have been as far from the healthy new year ones I had imagined I...

Cheese, cheese, cheese! If I had to choose one indulgence I simply couldn't do without, it would be cheese. The inspiration for this post came from one of the wonderful gifts I received this Christmas; Androuet's A Year In Cheese.  This beautiful cookbook from art...
